What is my default password at USU?

A

Default passwords are auto-generated from A-numbers in the following format:

  • First letter of first name (uppercase)
  • First letter of last name (uppercase)
  • Birth Month (MM)
  • Birth Day (DD)
  • A-number (including the A)(uppercase)

Note: If you don't have an birth date listed in banner yet, Birth Month (MM) should be replaced with 01 and Birth Day (DD) should also be replaced with 01.


Example 1:

        John C. Brunson born 12/09/75

  • A# = A00012345
  • Username = A00012345
  • Default password = JB1209A00012345

 

Example 2:

        John C. Brunson-Smith born 12/09/75

  • A# = A00012345
  • Username = A00012345
  • Default password = JB1209A00012345

Remember: the password is case sensitive. For your password to be functional, you will need to change your initial password at password.usu.edu and click on "Change Password." If you have any problems creating your password, please call the IT Service Desk at (435) 797-4357.


University Policy requires passwords may only be reset in-person or over the phone by the individual for whom the account belongs or for another individual who has a signed permission form on file with the Registrar's Office.
