Celestia: What is it?

Celestia is a free peice of planetarium software that can be downloaded from the internet for free. It is a space simulation that lets you explore our universe in three dimensions instead of only from the surface of the earth. The exponential zoom feature lets you explore space across a huge range of scales, from galaxy clusters down to a spacecraft only a few meters across. It is also equipped with a "search" and "go-to" interface that makes it simple to navigate through the immense universe to the object you want to visit.

How do I Install Celestia?

Installing Celestia is quite simple. Just follow the direction below.

1) Log-on to http://www.shatters.net/celestia/ This will bring you to the Celestia homepage
2) On the right side of this page, you will see a list of options. Click on the second option from the top called Download
3) This will take you to another page which will have several operating system options. Select the appropriate operating system.
4) This will take you to one more page. At the top of this page, you will see the option Download Celestia. Click on this option.
5) A new small window will appear which will ask you if you want to run the program or save it. Select Save.
6) Another window will appear which will allow you to access your computer files. Select the file you would like Celestia to be saved in, and select Save.
7) Once the download is complete, select Run.
8) A series of windows will appear in order to install the program. Each window will have a prompt at the bottom which will either say "next" "I agree" or "finish". Follow the prompts to install the program.
9) Now that Celestia is installed, you may use the program by selecting it from the file you saved it in earlier.
