Information Technology is pleased to announce the availability of Unified Messaging (UM) for the Logan Campus. Unified Messaging allows you to manage voice messages, calendar and meeting events, and email through your Aggies Exchange email account, or from any phone.
The new Unified Messaging system is a replacement for the current Octel voice mail system in use on the USU Logan Campus.
Unified Messaging works by storing any voice messages you receive centrally and then allowing you to access it through your Aggies Exchange email account or by phone.
When someone leaves you a voice message, you will receive an email notification, with a link to the voice message.
Your voice message will play right on your computer. You will also receive an email message every time a call to you goes unanswered, even if they choose not to leave a voice message. The email subject line will say "Missed call from" and display the number. If the person who called you is on Aggies Exchange, or contact information is in your personal address book, you will see the name and number of the person who called you.
For those who have an email enabled cell phone, you will be able to get immediate notices of missed calls, and listen to your voice mail from your email when away from the office.
Unified messaging also allows you to review your meeting and calendar events from your phone by calling 797-4200.
Simply fill out the Unified Messaging Request Form. You must meet the requirements detailed above to be eligible for an account.
NOTE: We will start processing requests for Unified Messaging on November 2nd. You can sign up anytime.
We encourage staff within the same departmental administrative office to sign up together so that call forwarding and roll-over features will continue without interruption.
Staff and faculty are also encouraged to attend the Unified Messaging information and training sessions.
There are some partner groups in Logan that have campus telephones, but do not qualify for Aggies Exchange email accounts. Information Technology is working on a solution and expects to announce this in February 2010. Regional Campus buildings and some other buildings located away from the Logan campus have their own phone systems, and are not eligible for Unified Messaging.
