Wireless

USU Wi-fi Network

Utah State University Information Technology is meeting the needs of our increasingly mobile students, faculty, and staff by initiating the institution’s first comprehensive wireless access program to deliver wireless data coverage with cutting edge features.

Wireless—Inside and Out

As the project is deployed throughout the 2007-08 academic year, coverage will rapidly expand to the following areas and more: USU academic buildings and classrooms, common outdoor gathering areas such as the Quad and around the Student Center and Library, USU student housing, USU athletic venues (indoors and out), USU dining, retail, and entertainment areas, and USU regional campuses outside of Cache Valley.

Future Ready

The wireless system is USU’s first wireless system built for “real-time data.” As such, it is ready to support new mobile features from streaming and podcasting to high quality Voice over IP features—all as you roam on your “Wi-Fi” enabled mobile device.

Seamless Roaming

When the project is complete, you will be able to walk from classroom to classroom and even building to building (in many areas) and not lose your connection!

Guest Access

If you are hosting guests on campus, they will be able to quickly access the same great wireless service you enjoy by obtaining a simple access code.

Secure Access

Multiple access methods will be available, one of which includes a highly secure, authenticated system that will strongly encrypt your wireless communications so you can do business with confidence. Unencrypted access will also be available for convenience.
