Installation Instructions: Windows 8.1 or newer & Microsoft .NET Runtime 4.0 or newer required (.NET 4.0 comes with Windows 8 or newer by default).
Server Address: pharos2.usu.edu (input during installation).
Windows Name: The Windows Name must match what is listed with the Pharos Servers. The software will not run on a computer with the wrong Windows name. The Windows name usually matches the pattern "facility or department-PRS1".
Screen Savers: Turn off any screen savers you may have running or there may be card swipe issues. The Release station software will use its own screen saver after a few hours by default.
Customization: The release station skins can be customized to match Univeristy colors and the screen saver activation time can be adjusted, contact Gary Egbert (435-797-1476) for information.
Network issues: If you add the Pharos Station executable to Startup items in Windows, there may be issues if the machine does not get its network address before the program starts. One solution is to add a delay to the start of the program to give the machine extra time to get its address.
Below is a .bat file that executes the pharos station software with a five second delay. To use it, copy it to the release station hard drive and add it to Windows Startup items (folder or registry). Modifications can be made to the script if desired, just open it with your favorite text editor.
