Rising Tide: The Crossroads Project 10th Anniversary Performance
Arts/Entertainment
The 2022-23 season celebrates the 10th anniversary of Rising Tide: The Crossroads Project. Premiered at USU in 2012, Rising Tide was created by the Fry Street Quartet and physicist Dr. Robert Davies to address pressing issues of global sustainability. An evocative performance experience that combines music, information, and imagery, Rising Tide features a string quartet written for the project by composer Laura Kaminsky, along with original works by painter Rebecca Allan and internationally recognized environmental photographer, Garth Lenz.

Jazz Jams
Arts/Entertainment
An eagerly awaited tradition around the Music Department is our series of monthly jam sessions, in which a guest artist (or two or three) from outside Cache Valley visits to perform jazz standards with USU students and community members in a relaxed environment. Come and sit in on a tune, or just sit back, relax, and enjoy the music. Jam sessions are completely unscripted, so you never know what exactly will happen, but it’s great fun watching musicians perform without a net!
As a recording artist known for using the saxophone with electronic effects, Josiah Boornazian is featured on multiple studio and live albums as a leader, sideman, and collaborator. Releases as a leader include Intersection, Live at Frost, Live at the UTRGV PAC, and ÌKAN ÌPÀKÓ Live, which feature Josiah's original modern jazz compositions and improvisations. Josiah is also prominent as a composer and improviser on the collaborative studio recordings Simply Begin Again and A Dark and Stormy Day (Fresh Sound New Talent Records), which feature a quartet Josiah co-leads with New York-based Italian pianist Alessandro Fadini.
