The Utah Legislature passed, and the governor signed, HB261: Equal Opportunity Initiatives, which took effect on July 1, 2024. Utah State University is fully committed to adhering to this law while upholding our mission of excellence, access, and belonging for all members of our community. As part of our commitment, we are actively updating our communications and web pages to ensure compliance with HB261.

- Audit and Update: Conduct an audit of your area's web pages to ensure they are in compliance with HB261.
Key Areas to Review
- Language on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI): Ensure that any language relating to DEI aligns with the new requirements.
- Outdated References: Update or remove references to programs or initiatives that no longer exist, such as the former Division of DEI, the Inclusion Center and its programs, or the Allies trainings.
- Institutional Neutrality: Review and update any language that may take a stance or promote topics covered under institutional neutrality.
